Audible & Visual Call Indication — explosion-protected sounder/horn and flashing beacon can be included for noisy process areas.
Freestanding Installation — floor-mounted pillar creates a dedicated communication point where wall mounting is unavailable or impractical.
Rugged Outdoor Design — IP66 telephone enclosure with corrosion-resistant construction for demanding industrial environments.
Project-Ready Package — telephone, acoustic protection, signaling, junction box, mounting and accessories can be specified as one coordinated system.
Certified Hazardous-Area Telephone Platform
The LC106EX-ST uses the original certified JR telephone models:
JREX106-FK-SIP — SIP / VoIP version
JREX106-FK-AL — Analog version
The JREX106 Series is covered by:
ATEX: CSANe 23ATEX1162X
IECEx: IECEx CSA 23.0034X
Hazardous-Area Marking
II 2 (2) GDEx eb ib [ib Gb] mb IIC T6/T5 GbEx ib [ib Db] tb IIIC T80°C/T95°C Db
Temperature Classification
T6 / T80°C: −40°C to +40°CT5 / T95°C: −40°C to +55°C
Telephone Protection: IP66
The certification documentation also provides for connections to an external loudspeaker and light, supporting engineered integration of audible and visual signaling with the certified telephone platform.
Complete Station Configuration
Explosion-Proof Telephone - Full keypad · LCD display · handset and hands-free operation · noise-reduction technology · IP66 · Analog or SIP/VoIP
Acoustic Hood - SMC fiberglass construction · 80 mm acoustic lining · approximately 23 dB noise reduction · SUS304 mounting backplate
Explosion-Protected Horn / Sounder & Flashing Beacon - Provides audible and visual indication of incoming calls or alarm events. Final model and certification package are selected according to the project requirements.
Floor-Mounted Telephone Pillar - Heavy-duty steel support with outdoor coating; SUS304 / SUS316 stainless-steel options can be specified for more corrosive environments.
Explosion-Proof Junction Box - Available with Ex db IIC T6 Gb / Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db configuration for hazardous-area cable termination and wiring.
SIP or Analog
LC106EX-ST-SIP
For Ethernet-based industrial communication systems and compatible SIP/IP-PBX platforms.
Supports SIP 2.0 / RFC3261, PoE or external 12 VDC power, full-duplex communication, VLAN, web configuration and hotline functions.
LC106EX-ST-AL
For standard two-wire PABX/PSTN infrastructure and brownfield projects where existing analog telephone cabling is retained.
The Analog telephone is line powered for normal operation, with external DC power available when required for additional signaling equipment.
Designed for High-Noise Hazardous Areas
A loud ringtone alone may not be enough in a refinery, compressor area, processing plant or mine.
The LC106EX-ST addresses the complete communication point:
Horn / Sounder — helps personnel notice the call.
Flashing Beacon — provides visual indication.
Acoustic Hood — reduces surrounding noise around the user.
Explosion-Proof Telephone — provides two-way voice communication.
Pillar — creates a dedicated freestanding installation point.
This makes the system particularly suitable for communication stations located near rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, processing units and other high-noise industrial areas.
Typical Applications
Oil & gas production · Oil refineries · Petrochemical plants · LNG facilities · Chemical plants · Offshore platforms · Drilling sites · Mines · Power plants · Tank farms · Compressor stations · Pump stations · Marine and heavy industrial facilities
Certification & Project Compliance
The LC106EX-ST is supplied as an engineered hazardous-area communication station using individually specified components.
ATEX and IECEx certificates apply to the specific JREX106 telephone models identified in the certification documents. The original JR model numbers are retained in quotations, compliance sheets and project documentation so the certified equipment can be directly traced to its certificates.
The acoustic hood and support pillar are passive mechanical components and are not represented as being covered by the JREX106 telephone ATEX / IECEx certificate.
Final project approval should confirm the selected telephone, signaling equipment, junction box, cable glands, wiring method and installation arrangement against the required Zone, gas/dust group, temperature class, ambient temperature, IP rating and local regulatory requirements.
Country-specific approvals such as PESO must be confirmed separately where required.
FAQ
What is an explosion-proof telephone with an acoustic hood?
It is a hazardous-area communication station combining an explosion-protected telephone with acoustic noise protection. Audible and visual signaling can also be added for high-noise process areas.
Why is an acoustic hood needed?
Industrial equipment can make voice communication difficult even when the telephone itself is loud enough to ring. The supplied acoustic hood uses 80 mm acoustic material and provides approximately 23 dB noise reduction around the user.
Can the station include a horn and flashing beacon?
Yes. Explosion-protected audible and visual signaling can be included so incoming calls can be noticed in high-noise areas. The exact signaling equipment is selected according to project requirements.
Is the station available in SIP and Analog versions?
Yes. LC106EX-ST can be configured with either the certified JREX106-FK-SIP telephone or the JREX106-FK-AL Analog telephone.
Is the telephone ATEX and IECEx certified?
The JREX106 telephone platform is covered by ATEX certificate CSANe 23ATEX1162X and IECEx certificate IECEx CSA 23.0034X. Final suitability must be checked against the hazardous-area classification of the project.
Can the station be installed without a wall?
Yes. The floor-mounted telephone pillar allows the complete communication point to be installed as a freestanding station.
What information is required for quotation?
Provide the required Analog or SIP communication type, hazardous-area classification, gas/dust group, temperature class, ambient temperature, power supply, mounting location, sounder/beacon requirements and applicable local certifications.
